A filling replaces a part of the tooth that has been accidentally damaged or decayed. This can be picked up at routine check-ups and through a routine x-ray, or you may of noticed something yourself.
Fillings can be done in different types of materials and your dentist will decide with you the best material for the filling at the time.
Most fillings are done under local anaesthetic although some people prefer not to have one and some fillings do not need it.
